Microsoft Entra ID is a cloud service for managing identities and access to applications and resources.
What does this mean in practice?
It helps manage accounts, groups and access policies. Distinguishing a user account from an administrator role makes it possible to assign permissions according to the work a person performs.
Example use case
A new employee receives access to their department’s tools. Someone responsible for a particular administration task receives the appropriate role, rather than automatically gaining full control of the environment.
Things to consider
Permissions should match actual needs and be reviewed regularly. Access to more advanced features depends on licensing.
